Apple King & Queen Contest

Due to a conflict with a home football game,
the Apple King & Queen Contest has been moved to
Saturday, Octber 4th
The contest takes place at LaFayette High School. The contest is always entertaining, and displays the special qualities of these contestants. This is a big community draw as young men and women strut their stuff and spontaneously answer questions related to the apple industry.
The judges score is comprised of the following:
Category Considerations
Personal Interview:
(30 points)
Communication skill including sentence structure and grammar, conversation skill, general knowledge, poise, and personality.
One Minute Speech:
(40 points)
Ability to convey message in allotted time, poise, effectiveness, presentation, grammar, and delivery.
Evening Gown:
(15 points)
Poise, Appearance, and coordination.
Question:
(25 points)
Poise, and spontaneous response ability.
The winners and their Court will be working in the information booth at the Festival on both days. They will also represent the Festival at numerous community events throughout the coming year. The Contest is held at the LaFayette High School Auditorium.


Apple Pie Baking Contest

Where: Country Kitchen
When:

Friday before the festival at 1-6 pm at the Red Apple Barn
Judging begins at 6:15 pm

Requirements: Anyone may enter a traditional 2 pastry crust apple pie, in a DISPOSABLE pie tin. Name, phone number, and recipe must accompany the pie on a 4" by 6" card. The pie (if not placed) may be picked up after judging at approximately 7:30 - 8 pm. (Pies not picked up will be eaten.)
Prizes: Awards & ribbons to the best 3 pies in each category.
JR—elementary and high school
SR—over 18 years old

To enter, bring your pie to the festival grounds
between 1:00 and 6:00 pm on the friday evening just before the festival.


Scarecrow Contest

Entries must be in on Friday between 5 and 7 PM

2nd Prize: $25.00
3rd Prize: $10.00
Display: Saturday and Sunday of the festival
Judging for "Best Scarecrow": Saturday at noon
